Woodstock didn’t
disappoint!!
Emotional weekend to
say the least.
This staff had these
boys focused until the last minute!!
Friday night it all
started with a highly anticipated rematch with South Oxford storm a very
talented club that beat us in the last tournament.
We had this one
circled and worked incredibly hard coming into this tournament.
We felt we were ready
and we were the team to beat!
The River Kings won the
first two periods but Oxford came storming back in the 3rd giving us all we
could handle!! Our goalie stood tall, the boys battled and we won this
thriller 5-4 and got a fantastic start to the weekend!
This Tournament had some of
the toughest teams in u10A with 5 of them ranked in the top of the Ontario
rankings.
Saturday we clashed
with the Burlington Eagles and we kept our foot on the gas winning this one by
a 4 goal differential.
Game 3 of the round
robin was a few hours later vs the Mt Brydges Cougars. This club was
fast and moved the puck well. We matched their intensity and were
buzzing early on. The River Kings took a one goal lead going into the 3rd but
failed to seal the deal and with a 6 on 5 they tied the game. They
kept their goalie out and took the lead late in the game but shortly after (22
seconds left) we tied it. This game was a roller coaster.
We had a slight
cushion in the standings and they need to win by a few.
This game went into
OT. They ended up beating us fairly quickly into 4th period putting
us in a 3 way tie in our pool.
Only two teams move on
from each pool and we slid in by one goal.
Haldimand River Kings
vs Brantford 99ers
South Oxford Storm vs
Norfolk Knights
Our boys came out and
dominated play vs 99ers from the start of this game until the last
second. We clearly wanted it and the vibe was strong in our
room. We believed we could do it, so prepared for this game and the
boys delivered a 3-1 win sending them to the final.
The other side was
back and forth and South Oxford ended up winning this game.
So South Oxford vs
Haldimand once again. To date we were 2-1 vs them but they won the
last tournament and it stung the boys.
Not sure anyone would
have beat them on this Sunday. We dominated the game in this entire
game we scored 2 quick goals and they answered with one. Going into
the 3rd we scored first shift padding our lead. Stayed calm focused
and these boys played their hearts out
Our goalies were
strong our systems worked and we out skated everyone winning the Regional
Silver Stick in Woodstock!!
Congratulations U10A
Haldimand River Kings, we did it. So proud of you. What a
weekend.
Thank you to all our
sponsors, families and coaches we couldn't do it without you.
Enjoy this win boys you
deserve it!!
Who are we?
