The U10A Haldimand River Kings travelled to Woodstock to compete in the Niagara Peninsula Regional Silver Stick Tournament November 14-16.
In their first game Friday night, they took on the Brant Battalion and skated to a 7-1 victory.
On Saturday morning, in their first game of the day they battled the Waterloo Wolves and came away with a 5-1 victory with an outstanding defensive effort.
Later in the day, they faced off against the Burlington Eagles and came away victorious 6-1.
These three wins clinched first in their pool, and they would play against the Ausable Valley Coyotes in the semifinals. In a tight game, they came out on top 3-1 and had clinched their spot in the finals.
They faced a formidable foe in the Delhi Norwich 59ers, with the score 5-3, Delhi pulled their goalie, and the River Kings were able to score an empty net goal clinching the championship with a 6-3 victory!
Every member of the team stepped up and played their role. Congrats coaches and players!
With the win, the U10A team qualified for the International Silver Stick competition, which takes place Jan 15-18 in Newmarket.
