Police Checks - How to Obtain from OPP (Haldimand Minor Hockey)

PrintPolice Checks - How to Obtain from OPP

Police Checks are required for all Bench Staff to obtain an Approved Roster.
For areas covered by the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), requesting record checks moved online as of June 13, 2022.
This process allows those living in OPP-policed communities to submit requests for police record checks online.

The online application process will allow members of the public to apply quickly, easily and securely for:

• Criminal Record Check (CRC)

• Criminal Record and Judicial Matters Check (CRJMC)

Vulnerable Sector Check (VSC) - Volunteer Checks are FREE

• OPP Non-Parent Custody Check (LE213)

Results will be delivered directly to the applicant through a secure portal link.

FIRST STEP - You will need the OHF Letter for VSCs from the OHF website.

Once on the OHF website, scroll to the link for "Vulnerable Sector Checks Process for Coaches/Volunteers/On-Ice Officials".
Then open the “OHF Letter Requesting Vulnerable Sector Check” form, fill it out and download it.
Click HERE to get the Letter (the letter is in a pull down menu so you have to use the steps above to find it).

SECOND STEP - You need to include this letter when submitting the request for your VSC to your local police service (MUST be the police service where you reside) at opp.ca/recordchecks. Each police service will be different as to how long it will take. Please complete the process as early as possible in case there is a backlog.

THIRD STEP - Once you have received your VSC, see "Police Checks - How to Upload" from the Coaches Corner tab for more information on how to submit/upload your VSC into the OHF database (we cannot do this for you, it has to be uploaded by the individual).

If you already have a valid VSC in the system from last season, you just have to go to OHF Online Submission Portal and follow the steps to "Declare" that it's still valid.
