Haldimand River Kings U11B are Tournament Champions !!!
The U11B River Kings entered the Doug Robinson tournament this past weekend in West Niagara and came home tournament champions!!!
The River Kings played three round robin games on Friday and Saturday. Their first Friday game was against a strong Southwest Admirals team. The Kings ended up on top with a 4-1 win. Their next game was against the Newmarket Renegades and again came out with a 4-1 win.
Saturday the River Kings played a strong Brant Battalion team. This game was evenly matched with action going back and forth on the ice but after the dust settled the Kings were on the wrong side of a 2-1 game. This record would be good enough to put us through to Championship Sunday!
On Sunday morning we would play the #1 seed Elgin Thames 73's. The boys were ready to battle right from the start and didn't disappoint winning 1-0. It was off to the championship game against a strong Mt Brydges Cougar team. This team had beat us already once this year in a tournament. The boys were once again ready for battle and you could tell as soon as they hit the ice that this tournament was theirs. The Kings and the Cougars fought hard all game but the River Kings would come out with a 5-3 win the championship!
