Now 46 years later consists of 45 employees and a fleet of machinery & trucks doing business all over Southern Ontario. Neil started out digging basements and installing septic systems for residential homes, slowly moving in to Municipal Drainage Systems & ditching for area farmers. As times have changed so did the need for new equipment and new technology. Newest technology acquired is 3D GPS Site System which enables precise grading & site preparation. Lower Lakes Towing Ltd. grew from its infancy in 1994 as a small tug and barge operator to become one of the largest marine transportation service providers operating on the Great Lakes Today. Lower Lakes Towing operates a fleet of five self-unloading bulk carriers and one conventional bulk carrier in Canada. Combined with our U.S. sister company, Grand River Navigation, we have a combined fleet of 16 vessels. These vessels transport a diverse array of dry bulk commodities including limestone, coal, iron ore, salt, grain and other commodities for more than 50 long-standing customers in the construction, electric utility, integrated steel and food industries.
