U10 A River Kings win Burlington Early Bird Tournament
The U10 River Kings played their first tournament of the year on Sept 22-24 in the Burlington Jr Raiders AA-A Early Bird. This team is made up of 8 returning players and 7 new River Kings. This would be their first opportunity to play together an they were up for the task.
The River Kings played their first game Friday morning. They came out well prepared for this game and finished with a 4-1 win.
Our team would then need to play three games on Saturday so they knew they would have to dig deep and play as a team and boy did they not disappoint their fans.
The played their morning game and kept rolling their lines, keeping the other team on their heals for most of the game. When the final buzzer went the Kings were winners with a score of 10-0. Their next two games were like their first. They were gelling as a team every game and they were playing and getting better by the shift. Their confidence was evident and it showed on the score board with scores of 8-1 and 7-0 .
This would put your River Kings team in the finals against the hometown favorite Burlington Raiders. The game started off with back and forth action with great goaltending at both ends of the ice and after the first period the score was 0-0. The second period was more of the same but Haldimand was able to pop a couple goals towards the end of the period to go up 2-0. The Kings got into some penalty trouble in third but were able to fight them off. When the horn sounded your River Kings were the champions by a score of 5-0.
