U9 River Kings are Bradford Tournament Champions!!
On March 17th the U9 River Kings traveled to Bradford to play their final tournament of the year. They started off playing East Gwillimbury Eagles. The boys were ready to play and came out with a 8-2 win. Later that day we were matched up with East Nipissing Vipers. The team picked up where they left off the first game and came out with a 8-1 win. With two wins under their belt they were focused on their final round robin game on Saturday against Richmond Hill Stars. After a entertaining first period the score was still tied 0-0. The team seemed to find another gear going into the second period and scored 5 goals to take a 5-0 lead after two periods. When the final buzzer went the score was 7-0.
On to the finals on Sunday against the East Gwillimbury team. This game was a back and forth game with great plays by both teams. After the first period the River Kings were up 3-1. The second period was tighter checking and at the buzzer it was 4-2. The boys knew they needed 10 minutes of hard hockey and they didn't disappoint. They weren't going to let this one get away from them and at the final whistle the score board read 6-3.
These boys played their hearts out and deserved this tournament championship. Way to go guys!!!
